Oversized or out-of-gauge cargo refers to goods whose dimensions or weight exceed the standard parameters established for normal air transport. Such shipments are delivered using specialised freighter aircraft – both ramp-equipped and non-ramp – capable of transporting heavy equipment, large structures, construction materials, and other non-standard cargo over long distances.
To ensure transport safety, special restraint and securing systems compliant with international requirements are used, guaranteeing the integrity of your cargo throughout the entire journey.
How is the transport of oversized and heavy cargo organised?
The process for handling oversized shipments is structured as follows:
- The customer submits a request to assess the feasibility of air transport for the declared cargo.
- Our specialists perform a technical analysis of the cargo and develop appropriate technical solutions to enable efficient loading/unloading and air transport, taking into account its specific weight and dimensional characteristics.
- Our specialists select the optimal route and transport method – either booking cargo capacity on a scheduled flight or chartering a full freighter. Where cargo volume and route allow, a scheduled flight is used. In other cases, a cargo charter flight is arranged.
- The customer receives comprehensive advice on the technical aspects of the transport, as well as on possible timelines and costs.
- Once all transport conditions have been agreed, both parties sign a freight forwarding agreement.
- Cargo capacity is booked with the air carrier.
- The necessary special equipment is rented for loading and unloading operations at the departure and destination airports.
- The cargo is transported in accordance with the terms agreed by both parties.
- Our manager oversees all stages of the shipment, keeping the customer regularly and promptly informed of each completed stage.
- After arrival at the destination airport, cargo release or onward ground delivery to the consignee is arranged.
